Eclypse ref (OLD)

this actually went a LOT faster and easier than all the other refs I've made for Eclypse, particularly the lining (I guess I'm becoming more steady w/ my lines~). it was so much easier, in fact, that I don't feel disgusted and tired looking at this right now, hmmm

EDIT- notes to self about changes to make in her next redesign, whenever I feel the need to remake it again-
- change  third eye pupil's dilated state
- make main eye iris brighter
- experiment w/ dark black-green for the fur (as opposed to current black-blue)
- remove some of the underside spots on the wings-onto-tail
- thicken the line/spots on the topside of the tail
- possibly remove circle pattern around main eyes (need to test out after I make irises brighter/more distinct)
- thicker tail
- experiment w/ different ear size/shape
- remove keel, emphasize back muscles
- experiment w/ palm and finger lengths
- extend leading membrane up onto neck
- hip spines, to lengthen wing membrane?? maybe

Name- Eclypse

Gender- Female

Belief system- Same as her species when it comes to strong philosophies surrounding balance. Noticeably less enthusiastic about social interaction than many of her species (considering her anxieties, self confidence issues, and hyper-awareness of social taboos and others being uncomfortable), but still understands the severe importance of social connection when it comes to her species and the world around her, so still tentatively senses others around her, and creates strong connections to a handful of those close to her. Particularly interested in stories, also just like many of her species (though, not being the most verbally eloquent, she is not so great at telling them, so prefers either writing them, or listening to/reading them).

Self (all the "powers" to be mentioned in this section are listed in much greater detail in 'Self' section of the Haunt Species ref sheet, if you'd like more info)- Enhanced empathy and telepathy are basically given as powers Eclypse is advanced in, considering their importance in her species' communication/sensing. She is a healer at heart, and being that she is a Haunt, this healing centers around mental and life energy. Given her anxieties involving social interactions, she focuses MUCH more on the general life energy aspect of her species' Self (so she works much more closely w/ plants and general environments, and has a great grasp on her species' "healing touch"). Though, she is always willing to heal other sentient beings as well (much more inclined towards non-humans, as humans she will rarely, if ever, so closely interact with), so she is quite adept at certain other Haunt Self powers as well, such as emotional manipulation and mind numbing, as these are two of the main "powers" often used for mental healing/calming. Other "abilities" such as sensory manipulation and mind reading are more difficult for her to accomplish, as she hasn't used and honed these skills very much (these such powers are much more mentally intrusive and taboo than others, so she has great reservations putting them to use). Unlike the norm of her species, she doesn't often let her Self flow freely out and about (unless she is among species/individuals who cannot sense Self energy, among those she feels comfortable with, or is simply alone). This is because some species outside of Haunts who can sense Self often have more stringent taboos about keeping it roped in, so she instead takes cautionary steps to direct it around those around her who would take offense, or just keeps it closer to herself.

Diet- nuts are a close favorite to ferns in her diet, but she also likes grass and leaves (berries are her absolute favorite, but they can be hard to find...)

Habitat- loves thick forests with tall trees, lots of rain and fog, and rivers

Battle- Very-much a pacifist, she will usually try to resolve fights peacefully before any "fur flies", and would likely put her calming abilities to good use. If she can't resolve a fight with diplomacy, she will usually run away. If she can't run (this would probably mean that someone else was involved that she felt obligated to help out), she likes to plan ahead before any fighting. Will generally perform more defensive maneuvers rather than offensive (she will protect, but generally not outright attack). Quick wit, flexibility, stealth, and evasive maneuvers are her best allies with her Self abilities to calm/stun an attacker. Though, again, she is MUCH more likely to run away (as well as help others run off) rather than fight.

Usually soft-spoken, patient, and doesn't stand-out a whole lot (so she often fades into the background... not that she'd complain about it). Introvert in every sense of the word, which gives the impression, at first, that she is cold and arrogant. Though, it is actually quite the opposite- she is very receptive of others, and countless anxieties hold her back from interaction, which leaves her in a constant state of closed-off wariness. She is still friendly (or at least puts much effort towards what she hopes to be friendly) when confronted.  While she won't go out of her way to interact and talk, Eclypse is surprisingly open, and, if asked, she will talk about whatever might be on her mind- even, surprisingly enough, her insecurities (she's very self-aware, so she well knows of her own anxieties, and she's very open to speaking about them, especially if she thinks her own experiences will help others out, or help them understand). However, her open personality closes tight when she is confronted by someone who makes her uncomfortable, or she believes what she's feeling would bother/upset others, in which case, she'll dance around and avoid the topic as much as possible. While she tends to have a somewhat stoic appearance (as is common of her species, and their lack of body language/facial expressions), those who are close to her can tell otherwise, for she really wears her heart on her sleeve (compared to the 'norm' of her species, that is), so anyone that can pick up on her toned-down body language can easily tell what she's thinking. Being so calm and lax, it is incredibly difficult to irritate her in any way, and only a few topics can get under her skin enough to get her heated. While this calm is true for her temper, a good handful of things can trip her anxiety, and nearly all of them have to do with social interactions, low self-esteem, making definite decisions/commitments, or scheduling/making plans (she's laughably bad at remembering dates, and often finds herself rushing at the last second getting ready for an event). Tries to avoid conflict, which can be helpful, as she can easily stay neutral when helping others with their conflicts, using her open-minded nature to see all sides. Has very high empathy towards others from her species' abilities, so she's naturally very considerate of others' feelings and opinions. While she doesn't often show it, she has a bone-deep passion that drives her compassion both for nature and other beings, and though this passion isn't often as 'visible' as the passions of others, its quiet strength gives her the drive to help and make a difference. Gentle in both thought and action, Eclypse makes a point to make herself as non-threatening (not that that's very hard, considering her size and personality) and open to others as possible, for tho she's not a very good "people-person", she still wants to be a comforting being for others; one others know they can trust, and see as soothing and kindly. She enjoys solitude over being with others, and is much more at home in her own thoughts (she can spend months in solitude without even realizing it, only to be confronted by a friend for 'disappearing' and suddenly realize how long she's been out of contact with others). When she is around others, she feels no need to fill the silence (unless someone is talking to her directly, of course), and is very comfortable in quiet companionship. Eclypse enjoys many different topics, such as history, mythology, literature, philosophy, astrology, etc. Though, her true passion lies in the realm of biology (most of her focus being on anatomy, botany, and zoology, particularly in relation to healing practices and environmental conservation). Even if she isn't interested in a particular subject, she holds the philosophy of "knowledge for knowledge's sake," and is more than happy to learn just about anything. On that note, Eclypse has a never-ending curiosity, thirst for knowledge, and love of exploring, so she would gladly explore any place (especially in nature), and often goes on her own little explorations (she is prone to disappearing off into areas of dense woodland near her home yet unexplored by her, and simply wandering about, enjoying the new energy around her). Though, when it comes down to it, Eclypse is very lax/easy-going, and is often found quietly curled up in her own thoughts, rather than doing anything athletic (more likely to be found reading, writing, drawing, or even sewing, those being among of her favorite artistic hobbies). Very much a dreamer, she tends to let her abstract imagination run wild, and often gets lost meditating in her own thoughts (leading her to deep introspection and lots of convoluted thoughts on life). Though, she can still be very perceptive and focused when needed, and is known for her skilled, analytical observations. Very meticulous, thoughtful, and thorough in her thoughts and actions, she enjoys living life at a leisurely, unhurried pace. She's not retaliatory, as it's easy for her to simply shrug off any slight, so there's no need to worry about her getting vengeance upon you for any wrongdoing towards her. However, she's not one to forget, and the memory of such a wrongdoing will taint any interactions she has w/ you from then on, as she will have lost trust in your decisions (though, being the extremely merciful being she is, she's willing to give anyone any number of chances to try and regain that trust). She's hardly competitive, if at all, so holds no merit in winning/losing any games or other competitions.

Weaknesses- She must take caution with her powers over emotions, for she could accidentally gather negative emotions within herself while manipulating, or accidentally skew others' emotions in the wrong direction (this is a common caution for anyone of her species, however, and not necessarily a caution for her as an individual). She has the urge to heal almost to a fault, and her "attraction" to negative emotions can lead her to being taken advantage of for others' gain. A downside of being neutral is that she has a hard time making decisions; she is always second-guessing herself and is very self-critical (often gets scolded for saying "sorry" too often). She is constantly worried about accidentally offending or hurting someone, leading her to being rather meek and submissive during debate. Avoiding conflict can also be a disadvantage, as she takes this to a detrimental extreme in that she is almost completely unwilling to take risks or advocate for herself, even if it would likely turn out beneficial. Eclypse constantly catalogues and looks back on her mistakes, further feeding her self-confidence issues and general disappointment in herself. While she does try to be friendly, more often than not, her shyness will grow into a crippling social anxiety, and she will go to great lengths to avoid meeting others or interacting. She has the kind of personality where she doesn't really lie (it makes her uncomfortable, which, in turn, makes her a terrible liar when she tries), so she expects others to be similarly truthful, which leads her to be a bit... naive. This, paired with being overly-merciful, can lead, again, to her being taken advantage of. This generally doesn't lead her into many bad/dangerous situations, as her critical thinking and anti-risk personality kick in some point soon after something deceptive is said, but it has gotten her to be unknowingly lead astray. Being so meticulous can make her very slow in her actions, as she focuses so much on doing something perfectly, and forgets that it may be something that needs to get done quickly. Gets extremely agitated in cities and areas with a lot of humans, or just loud/high-energy places in general. Hates most non-natural places as well, and begins to mentally/emotionally deteriorate in such places (as in her species' nature). Not very strong compared others of her species. Not the fastest either. Not very athletic/competitive in general, actually. She loathes being the center of attention, and becomes extremely self-conscious if she ever speaks in front of crowds.

Appearance- I'm too tired to describe what I've colored. The species ref has the general description of the species looks, so if you'd rly like a description of Eclypse's colors, pester me about it, and I'll add it in, but rn, I'm too lazy. Moss (and some other plants, such as mushrooms, and clovers) typically grow on her rump/back region, the back of her head, and sometimes a few other places.
